Falcons Play Comeback in Michigan

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The CUW ACHA team continued their dominance with a 5-3 victory over the Sault Ste. Marie Cougars on Friday night.

The Cougars took the 3-0 advantage in the first two periods.

The Blue and White flexed their muscles in the third period with five unanswered goals to take the 5-3 victory.

Sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) lit the lamp for the Falcons with the first goal of the period off the stick of junior Michael Fradette (Victoria, B.C.) and senior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.).

Sophomore Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) was found by the other Waukesha native junior Ian Malcolmson for the second Falcon goal.

Senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) got in on the action with the third goal of the period off the sticks of seniors Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.) and Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.).

Senior Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.) found Malcolmson for the game-winning goal on a powerplay opportunity.

The Blue and White added the emphasis with 12 seconds left off the stick of Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) off a pass from senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).

The Falcons look to continue their win streak with another matchup against the Cougars on Saturday.
