Falcons Trounce Thunder in Game One

ANGOLA, Ind. - The CUW ACHA team took on No. 6 Trine in game one of a nationally ranked top-10 matchup on Friday night.

The Falcons came out hot with their win streak on the line against one of the top teams not only in the region but in the nation which kicked off the heavy part of the 2023 regular season.

The Falcons netted the first goal in the first period off the stick of senior Lucas Kreuser.  His goal was unassisted.

The second period was skated to a draw and the Blue and White headed into the final frame with a 1-0 lead.

The third period opened with a Falcon goal from senior Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) which was assisted by sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) and senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).

The Falcons netted two more goals in the third period off the sticks of senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.) and his brother sophomore Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.).  The second Falcon goal of the period was assisted by Cassel and Garrett Wilderman's goal was unassisted.

The Thunder netted their first goal of the matchup to close the period, but the Falcons held on to their lead to take game one by a score of 4-1.

Senior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) finished with 33 saves in his 60 minutes between the posts.

The Blue and White look to sweep the series on Saturday evening with another matchup with the Thunder in Angola, Indiana.
