ACHA Hockey Plays Comeback at Home

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW ACHA men's hockey team finished their home-and-home series against the Golden Eagles of Marquette on Saturday evening.

The Golden Eagles got the ball rolling in the first period. This had been the first time all season that Concordia has trailed on home ice.

Senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) lit the lamp for the good guys with a goal in the 18th minute on the powerplay with an assist from junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.).

The teams headed into the locker room tied at one.

Marquette came out hot and scored two unanswered goals with one on the powerplay to take the 3-1 lead.

The Blue and White proceeded to net three goals to end the period with a 4-3 lead.  Alex Way netted the first of the three with an assist from senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).  Senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) netted the second for the flock with an assist from fellow senior Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.). The final Falcon goal of the second period came off the stick of senior Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) with an assist from sophomore Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.).

Way netted his second hat trick of the weekend in the third period off an assist from Kreuser to put the Falcons up 5-3 late.

The Falcons maintained their undefeated record on home ice with the 5-3 victory over the Golden Eagles.

Senior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) recorded 25 saves on the night.

The Falcons head Northeast to take on Sault Ste. Marie next Friday and Saturday.
