Falcons Blank Badgers

MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW ACHA team continued their undefeated streak inside the Ozaukee Ice Center on Friday night in their matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers.

This was the third Big 10 opponent that the Falcons faced with Indiana and Iowa matchups earlier in the year.

The Badgers and the birds skated the first period to a draw.

The Blue and White lit the lamp off the stick of senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) on the powerplay with assists from senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) and junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.). Malcolmson netted the second Falcon goal of the second period in the 11th minute with assists from senior Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) and sophomore Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.). Way netted another powerplay goal in the 16th minute which gave the Blue and White the 3-0 advantage. Way was assisted by Garrett Wilderman and senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).

It was all Falcons in the third period with a powerplay goal and a shorthanded goal to close out the Badgers. Kreuser netted his second powerplay goal of the matchup and senior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) netted the final Falcon goal on a short-handed breakaway. Both goals were unassisted.

Senior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) recorded 30 saves in his clean-sheet performance.

The Falcons look to remain undefeated on Saturdays against Big 10 teams with a matchup in Madison on Saturday morning.
