ACHA Hockey Grounds the Flyers

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's ACHA hockey team continued its offensive explosion against the Flyers of Lewis on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons cruised to a 12-3 victory to improve to 4-3-0 and to 2-0-0 in the NCHL.

The Falcons scored four goals in the first period on Saturday.

Senior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) started the charge with a goal 37 seconds into the contest off assists from junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.).

Seven minutes later, senior Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) lit the lamp off assists from senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.).

Senior Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) joined the party halfway into the period off a pass from senior Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.).

The first-period scoring ended on the stick of Alex Way from great passes from senior Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.) and Sam Weiss.

The second period saw three more Falcon goals. The scoring started with Garrett Wilderman finding the back of the net from passes from junior Dylan Tschabold (Solothurn, Switzerland) and Ian Malcolmson.

CUW scored again 80 seconds later from a Sam Weiss goal. Alex Way and Thomas Dyball added the assists on that goal.

The Falcons scored on the power play with a goal from Thomas Dyball and assists from Ian Malcolmson and Garrett Wilderman.

Two minutes into the third period, Lucas Kreuser netted his second goal of the game off an assist from Alex Way.

The Flyers fought back and scored the next two goals of the contest.

Sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) snapped the skid with a goal eight minutes into the period off assists from Trenton Sherman and senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).

Senior Connor Doyle (Naples, Fla.) joined the scoring spree a minute later off a Scott Gregor assist.

The Flyers found the net one for time before Trenton Sherman and Jacob Palmerio added goals to close the scoring.

Senior Ian Robertson (Calgary, Alta.) netted six saves in the victory.

Junior Jacob Hoover (Malvern, Pa.) had 14 saves in relief.

The Falcons peppered the Lewis net all weekend and finished with a 70-20 shots advantage on Saturday.

Leading the flock were Jacob Palmerio, Lucas Kreuser and Thomas Dyball with eight shots each.

Alex Way led CUW with five points in the victory with a goal and four assists.

The Falcons look to extend their winning streak on Friday at Iowa.
