Falcons Split Series with Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The CUW ACHA team flipped the script on the Hawkeyes of Iowa with a 3-2 victory after their 2-3 loss on Friday night.

The first period seemed like it was going to come and go scoreless, but the Hawkeyes netted a goal with just over one minute remaining to take the 1-0 lead.

The Falcons responded off the stick of senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault St. Marie, Ont.) just 21 seconds later.  Palmerio was assisted by sophomore Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.).

The Blue and White took the 2-1 lead with the lone goal of the second period from sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.).  Junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.) and senior Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.) recorded their first points of the matchup with assists on the second goal.

10 minutes into the third period, senior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) found senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) for the game-winning goal.

The Hawkeyes netted their second goal with four seconds left, but that was not enough to overcome the Falcon offense.

Willy recorded 28 saves in his 60 minutes between the posts.

The Falcons head home and will take on Concordia University Ann Arbor in a weekend series starting on Friday.
