Falcons Fall to No. 12 Montana State

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA Hockey team took on No. 12 Montana State for game two of their National Championship quest. Despite an early goal in the third, the Falcons fall 5-1 to the Bobcats.

The Bobcats took control early in the game and maintained strong offensive pressure. Special teams were unsuccessful as both goaltenders senior Vincent Falcone (Elgin, Ill.) and the Bobcats goaltender Jorgen Johnson recorded highlight reel saves in the first period.

The Bobcats were able to find the scoreboard at 18:18 in the first period. Jake Parent was able to generate a shorthanded opportunity and scored off his rebound. Falcone bounced back quickly and recorded another wicked save to keep the score at 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Montana State would extend their lead to 2-0 at 8:10 in the second period with a tip-in goal from Keaton Harrison. The Falcons would generate multiple chances throughout the second but were unable to put one past Johnson.  An unlucky bounce off the boards would reward the Bobcats with their first power-play goal in the final minute of the second period.

The Falcons come out of the gates flying with ACHA D2 leading scorer freshman Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) scoring 0:41 secs into the period. Unfortunately, the Falcons could not continue the offensive pressure with the Bobcats scoring three more goals in the third.

Vincent Falcone finished with 35 saves on the evening.

The Falcons will wrap up the season tomorrow at 11:15 am with a game versus No. 5 Miami Ohio.
