Falcons Make Quick Work of WLC

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Falcons cruised to a 3-0 victory at Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday night with a 25-9, 25-20, 25-19 victory to win their 15th-straight match. The streak is the longest on record in program history. CUW improves to 18-3 on the year and stays in first place in the NACC at 9-1.

The Falcons blasted the Warriors early in the first set and never looked back. The Blue and White pushed the lead up to 17-5 before closing the set on a 4-0 run to smack the Warriors, 25-9. The CUW serve wrecked the Warriors, with seven service aces in the set. Senior Annie Marie Olszowka (Bolingbrook, Ill.) finished the set with four service aces.

CUW never trailed in the second set. The Falcons pushed the lead to 16-10 with a kill from McKenna Nigl (Richland Center, Wis.). The Green and White did not go away and cut the Concordia lead to one point on two occasions. The serve of junior Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) put a halt to the comeback and pushed the lead to 23-19. A kill from senior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) put the set away at 25-20. Sophomore Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) finished with five kills while hitting .714 in the set.

Concordia cruised in the third set and led wire-to-wire. The Warriors cut the lead to 5-4 early in the set, but that is the closest they would get to CUW the rest of the night.

Sophia Collins and Maycee Karpfinger led the flock with eight kills on Tuesday. Seven Falcons recorded a kill against the Warriors. Senior Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) led the effort with 18 assists.

CUW secured 10 service aces at WLC, with Annie Marie Olszowka leading the match with four.

Senior Madelyn Alton (Farwell, Minn.) continued her campaign for one of the best defenders in the NACC with 16 digs.

The Blue and White also put up a wall against the Warriors and put up seven blocks.

The Falcons can secure a spot in the NACC Tournament when they take on Illinois Tech on Friday in a triangular tournament with Wisconsin-La Crosse.
