CUW Clips No. 24 Carthage and Carroll

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The CUW women's volleyball team posted a perfect record at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invite with victories over No. 24 Carthage and Carroll on Saturday to improve to 8-3 on the season and 3-0 at the tournament. The Falcons opened the day with a 3-1 victory over the Firebirds and closed the tournament with a 3-0 victory against Carroll.

The Falcons started the day with a 25-10, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16 victory over Carthage.

The Falcons extinguished the Firebirds in the first set in a 25-10 victory in where CC hit -.036 as a team. Junior Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) and sophomore Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) led the attack with three kills in the set.

The second set was the only set the Falcons dropped on the week.

The Chaussee-Karpfinger duo exploded for 13 kills in the third set with Karpfinger leading the way with seven.

The Blue and White cruised in the fourth set to secure the victory with a 25-16 victory. The Falcons broke the set open at the 12-10 mark with a 9-1 run.

Jenna Chaussee and Maycee Karpfinger both had 15 kills in the victory.

Senior Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) led the match with 23 assists and senior Madelyn Alton (Farwell, Minn.) led the team with 21 digs.

The Falcons pounded the Pioneers with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 victory to close the tournament.

CUW posted a balanced attack in the first set with six Falcons registering a kill, led by Jenna Chaussee and senior Gabrielle Pavlik (Pewaukee, Wis.) with four. CUW hit an outstanding .538 in the first set.

Seven Falcons secured a kill in the second set, with Karpfinger setting the tone with three.

CUW landed four service aces in the final set on Saturday.

Jenna Chaussee led CUW with nine kills and 12 digs against Carroll. Maycee Karpfinger added eight kills and four blocks in the victory.

At the line, junior Annie Marie Olszowka (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and Makenzie Vertz landed two service aces. Vertz also had a match-high 16 assists.

CUW returns home on Tuesday in a matchup with Carthage.
