CUW Knocks Off No. 9 Transylvania at Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. – The CUW women's volleyball team finished the UChicago Invite on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 record. After defeating No. 15 Millikin on Saturday, the Falcons opens Sunday with a 3-0 victory over No. 9 Transylvania and fell to the No. 16-ranked host Maroons of Chicago, 3-1 in the finale.

The Falcons were on fire in the first set against the Pioneers and hit .519 in the opening set.

The Blue and White held Transylvania to a .000 hitting percentage in the first two sets.

Senior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) led the flock with eight kills in the victory.

Junior Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) led the match with 12 points on six kills, five service aces and two block assists.

Senior Madelyn Alton (Farwell, Minn.) led the back row with 20 digs.

CUW took the first set from the Maroons with a 25-22 victory.

The No. 16 ranked Maroons took the next three sets to take the match.

Collins once again led CUW with 10 kills against Chicago.

The CUW defense picked up 70 digs, led by Madelyn Alton with 22.

Senior Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) led the flock with 23 assists.

CUW opens NACC play on Wednesday at Edgewood.
