Falcons Roll Over Rockford

 

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The CUW women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory at Rockford on Friday night to improve to 10-3 on the year and to 2-1 in the NACC. The Falcons flew over the Regents with a 25-8, 25-23, 25-10 victory.

The Falcons started the game blazing hot with a .684 hitting percentage in the first set. The Falcons led the set from start to finish on Friday, with sophomore Maycee Karpfinger (Waukesha, Wis.) leading the attack with five kills.

The Blue and White pushed the lead to 20-14 in the second set before the Regents stormed back for their only lead of the night at 23-22. A kill from senior Gabrielle Pavlik (Pewaukee, Wis.) tied the set and Pavlik struck again two points later to secure the set at 25-23.

CUW cruised in the third set to a 25-10 victory to secure the match. The Falcons had 13 kills on 25 attacks during the third set.

Gabrielle Pavlik led all players with nine kills on 14 attacks.

The birds finished with a .456 hitting percentage, which is the third-highest in program history and the highest for CUW since 2014.

Junior Gabriella Kaebisch (Paddock Lake, Wis.) hit .778 with seven kills. Maycee Karpfinger also added seven kills at .667 on the night. Karpfinger also led the flock with three blocks.

Senior Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) fed 20 assists into the Concordia attack on Friday.

Senior Madelyn Alton (Farwell, Minn.) posted a strong performance in the backcourt with a team-high three service aces and 12 digs.

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday at Concordia Chicago.
