Followell and Karpfinger Collect Co-Female Athlete of the Year Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Athletics Department has announced Gina Followell of the softball program and Maycee Karpfinger of the women's volleyball program as the co-2021-22 Female Athlete of the Year recipients

A senior from Romeoville, Illinois, Gina Followell is claiming the honor for the second-straight year.

Followell earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-American honor this year and also received NFCA First Team All-Region honors.

She also received many honors within the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) in 2022. She was named the NACC Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-NACC and the NACC Pitcher of the Week on six different occasions.

Followell finished the season as the leader in NCAA Division III in earned run average at 0.70, shutouts at 12 and WHIP at 0.60. She also had 22 victories on the year, with 265 strikeouts.

A sophomore from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Maycee Karpfinger is claiming her first CUW honor.

Karpfinger collected American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-American honor this year and also received AVCA First Team All-Region honors.

Karpfinger also cleaned up the NACC honors this year as the NACC Player of the Year and All-NACC First Team honors.

She finished the 2021 campaign with 268 kills, 122 digs, 100 blocks and a .350 hitting percentage.
