Pointers Pop the Falcons in Overtime

MEQUON, Wis. – The Pointers spoiled the final home game of the year for the Falcons on a breakaway goal to open the overtime session. The 4-3 overtime loss sends CUW to 11-11-1 on the year.

The Falcons found the back of the net first on Tuesday night with a five-hole goal from freshman Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.). She scored off assists from freshman Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.) and senior Kaytlin Johnson (Black River Falls, Wis.).

CUW scored again 12 minutes later when senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.) went coast to coast and threw the puck into the top of the net.

Penalties proved to be costly for Concordia in the third period with the Pointers converting on the power play twice.

Brooke Gibson scored the go-ahead goal with a1:16 on the clock off an assist to freshman Katie Rahilly (Newberry, Mich.).

The Pointers pulled their goalie and the extra attacker proved lethal again. UWSP secured the victory six seconds into overtime.

CUW posted a 25-19 advantage on shots on Tuesday. Sarah Tretina led CUW with six shots.

Freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) collected 15 saves against Stevens Point.

Senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) finished with a game-high 19 faceoff victories.

The Falcons return to action on Friday night at Finlandia.
