CUW Hands Adrian its First NCHA Loss Since 2020

MEQUON, Wis. – It was a memorable start to the senior weekend on Friday night with the Falcons stunning the Bulldogs of Adrian College with a 2-1 victory. The loss is the first for the Bulldogs in NCHA play since they fell to Lake Forest in 2020. This is also the first victory for CUW over Adrian since 2015.

"This was a great overall team victory," said head coach Steve Fabiilli. "Everybody did their part tonight and that was a great win. Adrian doesn't give up points easily so those are some really big points."

The Bulldogs found themselves on the scoreboard first with a goal in the first five minutes of the first period.

Seven minutes later, freshman Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.) scored on a breakaway goal off a diving pass from senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) and a secondary assist to freshman Savannah Hutchins (Inner Grove, Minn.).

The Concordia captain, Emily Reimche scored the game-winning goal with a five-hole shot off a pass from senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.) from behind the net and a secondary assist to freshman Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany).

Junior Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) was a brick wall for the Falcons on Friday with 31 saves.

Emily Reimche also won a game-high 12 faceoffs against the Bulldogs.

The Falcons landed 26 shots on the Adrian net, led by senior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.) with four shots.

CUW is going for its first-ever sweep of the Bulldogs on Senior Day on Saturday.
