Spartans Shutout Falcons on Friday

MEQUON, Wis. – The Spartans took round one of the weekend series on Friday night with a 3-0 victory. The loss sends the Falcons to 8-8-1 on the season and 3-5-1 in the NCHA.

The Spartans struck twice in the first period, including one goal on the power play.

The Black and Blue secured the victory with an empty-net goal.

The Spartans tilted the ice with a 46-24 advantage in shots on Friday.

Junior Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) collected 41 saves against Aurora.

The Falcons soared at the faceoff circle and won 46 of the 55 faceoffs. Senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) came into the night leading the nation in faceoff victories and secured 29 victories.

Freshman Katie Rahilly (Newberry, Mich.) led the flock with six shots.

Concordia was unable to capitalize on nine power-play opportunities.

The Falcons look to level the weekend series on Saturday at Aurora.
