APPLETON, Wis. – The Falcons brought out the brooms on Saturday at Lawrence. The Falcons downed the Vikings with a 9-4 victory to improve to 11-10-1 and 6-7-1 in NCHA play.
The Falcons scored three goals in the first 11 minutes of the game with goals from senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.), senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) and freshman Ashlyn Marshall (Telluride, Colo.).
After a Lawrence goal, CUW had two freshmen find the back of the net with goals from freshman Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) and freshman Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.) off assists from senior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.) and Emily Reimche.
Natalie Mackrell found the back of the net again in the second period.
Seven minutes later, Katie Rahilly scored on the power play.
CUW added third-period goals from freshman Lilly Casher (Grayslake, Ill.) and Ashlyn Marshall.
Freshman Cheree Peters (Vernon, B.C.) made nine saves in her collegiate debut.
CUW finished with 50 shots, led by Sarah Tretina with seven.
CUW closes the home portion of the schedule and non-conference play on Tuesday against Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
