Falcons Are Victorious Over the Vikings

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons exploded with an 8-0 victory over the Vikings of Lawrence on Friday evening. The victory sends CUW to 10-10-1 on the year and 5-7-1 in NCHA play.

The scoring started in the first period when freshman Olivia Kurtz (Plainfield, Ill.) found the back of the net off assists from junior Isabela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany).

With under two minutes left in the first period, Natalie Mackrell scored with assists to freshman Savannah Hutchins (Inner Grove, Minn.) and senior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.).

The Falcons broke the program record on Friday for six goals in the second period.

Freshman Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.) started the scoring 24 seconds into the period on the power play from assists from senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) and Sarah Pearson.

The Falcons' next two goals came from unassisted goals from freshman Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.) and Natalie Mackrell.

CUW struck again 17 seconds later on the power play when freshman Ashlyn Marshall (Telluride, Colo.) scored her first goal as a Falcon from Natalie Mackrell.

The period ended as it started with a power-play goal from Brooke Gibson off assists from Emily Reimche and senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.).

Defense reigned supreme in the third period with neither team finding the net. Freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) earned her first collegiate shutout on Friday with 11 saves in the victory.

Concordia blasted 56 shots in the victory with Natalie Mackrell leading the way with eight.

Emily Reimche once again proved why she is one of the best in the nation and won 19 faceoffs against the Vikings.

Special teams clicked once again for the Falcons with four power-play goals and the defense killing off both of Lawrence's power-play opportunities.

The Falcons go for the season sweep on Saturday at Lawrence.
