Foresters Take the Border Battle

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Foresters remained undefeated in the NCHA after Saturday night's "Border Battle" against the Falcons. Lake Forest took the game 5-3 to send the Falcons to 8-7-1 and 3-4-1 in the NCHA.

The Foresters struck first with a pair of goals in the first period and added another goal on the scoreboard in the second period.

Senior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.) deflected a shot from freshman Katie Rahilly (Newberry, Mich.) to light the lamp off a pass from junior Isabela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.).

Sarah Pearson cut into the deficit as she tapped in a rebound off a shot from senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.). Senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) fed the pass into Tretina.

The Foresters scored once more to close the second period to push the lead back to two goals.

The Falcons scored on the power play when senior Baileigh Johnson (Neillsville, Wis.) deflected in a shot from Sarah Tretina and senior Kaytlin Johnson (Black River Falls, Wis.).

The Foresters pushed the lead back up to two goals a minute later.

Junior Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) finished the night with 17 saves.

The Falcons held a 31-22 advantage in shots on Saturday. Freshman Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.), Baileigh Johnson, junior Colleen Gilligan (Colborne, Ont.), Sarah Tretina and Isabela Noyle all had four shots against the Foresters.

Brooke Gibson won 14 faceoffs, while Emily Reimche won 13 faceoffs for the Falcons.

The Falcons return to action on Friday against Aurora.
