Falcons Sweep Trine

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons brought out the brooms on Saturday evening with a 4-2 victory. The weekend sweep over Trine propels CUW to 4-1-0 on the year and atop of the NCHA at 2-0-0.

The Thunder rumbled onto the scoreboard on the power play 82 seconds into the game.

Senior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) connected on a pass from freshman Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.) to tie the game with 12 seconds left in the first period.

Reimche scored again on the power play, off passes from senior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.) and senior Kaytlin Johnson (Black River Falls, Wis.) in the second period.

Freshman Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.) lit the lamp at the end of the second period off assists from senior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.) and junior Isabela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.).

The Thunder cut into the Concordia lead, but Amanda Bauer sent the Thunder home without a point when she scored on an empty net.

The Falcons edged Trine in shots on Saturday at 33-32. Emily Reimche led the birds with seven shots and 12 faceoff victories.

Freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) had another stellar outing in the net with 31 saves.

The Falcons travel to Marian on Friday.
