Men’s Hockey falls to 12th-Ranked MSOE

Box Score: CUW 1, MSOE 5

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Playing the first leg of a home-and-home weekend series, the Concordia University Wisconsin men's hockey team fell to 12th-ranked Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday night, losing 5-1 inside the Kern Center Ice Arena.

The Falcons had an early 1-0 lead after sophomore Shay Klitzke (Annandale, Minn.) scored on a 5-on-3 power play, but it was all MSOE after that, as the Raiders rattled off five unanswered goals to slam the door on CUW.

Freshman goalie Josh Lehr (Appleton, Wis.) made 33 saves in a game that featured 25 penalties and plenty of physical play.

CUW (2-15-3, 2-11-2 MCHA) had the early advantage after just four minutes of play when Klitzke finished off assists from freshman Cole Weiser (Beloit, Wis.) and sophomore Russell Johnson (Monticello, Minn.).

But the Raiders (14-5-1, 11-3-1 MCHA) didn't wait long to take control, responding with the game-tying goal just six and a half minutes later before taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

MSOE would add another goal in the second period, and two more in the third to seal the win.

The two teams will meet again inside the Ozaukee Ice Center on Saturday night, with the action scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
