Falcons Secure Playoff Spot on Senior Night

MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team fell to the MSOE Raiders on Saturday evening by a 7-4 score. The senior day contest saw three different Falcons skaters turn in multi-point performances.

The Raiders opened the scoring on the power play just over two minutes into the game, but Concordia evened the game at the first period's 6:35 mark, also on the man advantage. Junior Zach Brydges (Woodbury, Minn.) found the back of the net to collect his third goal of the season off of assists from sophomore Noah Roitman (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and freshman Mi-Kwan Tallman (Edmonton, Alta.).

The Falcons took control of the game in the early going of the second period, as senior defenseman Joey Petronack (White Bear Lake, Minn.) collected a goal that saw Tallman collect his second assist of the game.

Casey Roepke evened the game for MSOE in the frame's eighth minute, but Brydges notched his second goal of the game just minutes later to restore Concordia's lead.

The Raiders took a multi-goal advantage as the game evolved due to a hat trick from Seth Bernard. His first two goals came in the final stages of the middle frame, while his third was entered on the scoresheet in the opening minute of the third.

Sophomore Derek Humphreys (Spokane, Wash.) sliced the lead in half on the power play late in the game off of an assist from Petronack. Ultimately, the comeback attempt fell short, as the Raiders notched a pair of goals in the closing minutes.

Sophomore goaltender Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) recorded 28 saves for Concordia.

Despite the loss, the Falcons still earned a berth in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs due to a loss by Lake Forest.

Concordia will be back on the ice on February 16 to kick off the postseason in the NCHA Quarterfinals. The contest will see the Falcons were originally announced as the seven seed by the NCHA, but we are waiting on confirmation.
