Falcon men fade in third period ; lose 6-3
Lake
Forest, Ill. -- Concordia University Wisconsin worked hard
to take a 2-1 lead at the end of two periods of play on Friday
night, but the Falcons were defenseless during the final segment as
host Lake Forest College scored five times to earn a 6-3 win.
The hosts got a short-handed goal less than eight minutes into the
contest, but CUW came back on freshman Tanner Tryggestad's (Amery,
Wis.) equalizer at 12:13 of the first.
Falcon freshman Dustin Jonasson (Fargo, N.D.) gave head coach Tony Hrkac's team the lead with the only goal of the second period off assists from freshman Mario Delasandro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman Lukas Allen (Lakeville, Minn.). The handwriting was on the wall, however, because Lake Forest held a 25-7 shot advantage over those initial sessions despite trailing 2-1.
Things came apart in the third
period when the Foresters scored on 5 of their 16 shots to turn the
game around. Freshman Morgan Sanchez (Corona, Calif.) got the only
CUW tally of the final frame, but his team trailed 6-2 at that
point.
By games' end the shot differential was 41-14 and Lake Forest had
their first win of the season and the Falcons had slipped to
0-6-1.
The teams meet again Saturday afternoon at the Bradley Center at 2:45 p.m.
