Men’s Basketball begins stretch run for NAC North title Wednesday

MEQUON, Wis. - With three games remaining on the regular season schedule and a one game lead in the Northern Athletics Conference North Division, the Concordia University Wisconsin men's basketball begins an important six-day portion of their season on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Lakeland College inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

The Falcons own a one-game lead over Edgewood College and Lakeland College with all three teams having three games remaining on their respective schedules.

CUW (16-5, 11-2 NAC) is riding a four-game conference winning streak, including two victories at home this past week to remain undefeated inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

Senior Luke Doedens (Cedarburg, Wis.) leads the Falcons with a 16.8 points per game average, including an impressive 47.6 percent from beyond the 3-point line. The 6-foot-5 guard ranks seventh in the nation in 3-point percentage and 37th in the nation in 3-point field goals per game (2.9).

Senior Mitchell Schneider (New Holstein, Wis.) is also scoring 14.0 points per game, while senior Matt Paluchniak (Oostburg, Wis.) is dishing out 5.2 assists per game which ranks 35th in the country. In addition, Paluchniak' s 2.81 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 16th nationally.

LC (16-5, 10-3 NAC) has won five of its last six games, while averaging 91.3 points per contest during those conference games. The Muskies topped the 100-point plateau for the third time this season during a 101-92 victory over Benedictine University last Saturday.

Jake Schwarz leads LC and is sixth in the nation with a 25.1 points per game average. He is also sixth in the country shooting 48.3 percent from the 3-point line and 11th in free throw percentage (88.9).

Justin Ward and Josh Regal are adding 17.0 and 12.1 points per game, respectively, for the Muskies. Regal is seventh in the country with a 6.4 assists per game average.
