Men's Basketball Notebook: Hitting from everywhere

MEQUON, Wis. - When the Concordia University Wisconsin men's basketball team returns to the R. John Buuck Field House for a Northern Athletics Conference game on Saturday it will have been more than a month since the Falcons last played at home. League foe and South Division-leader MSOE arrives on Saturday for a 4:15 p.m. matchup.

Fans unable to make either game can follow live statistics.

CUW (9-3, 5-1 NAC) returned to the conference win column last Saturday with a 78-75 victory at Dominican University. The victory was the third straight in league play for the Falcons. Senior Mitchell Schneider (New Holstein, Wis.) led all players with 18 points, while seniors Luke Doedens (Cedarburg, Wis.) and Nick Doedens (Germantown, Wis.) scored 16 and 11 points, respectively.

The win combined with an Edgewood College loss to MSOE pushed CUW into sole possession of first place in the NAC North Division for the first time this season. Since last Saturday the Falcons are now in a three-way tie with EC and Lakeland College.

MSOE (6-7, 4-1 NAC) has a half-game lead in the South Division after knocking off Edgewood which held the top spot until the two met last Saturday. The Raiders downed the Eagles, 64-59, behind a 15-7 scoring run to close the game. MSOE's bench play was superb in the victory outscoring EC's backups 32-6.

Oren Bloom and John Cording leads the Raiders in scoring at 11.1 and 10.7 points per game, respectively. On the season MSOE has held 10 opponents under 61 points.

Thursday night's (Jan. 12) postponed home game with Maranatha Baptist Bible College has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the R. John Buuck Field House.
