Men’s Basketball to Participate in 13th Annual Mel’s Run
MEQUON, Wis. - Concordia
University Wisconsin's men's basketball program will participate in
the 13th Annual Mel's Run this Saturday, Sept. 24, in Cedarburg,
Wis. The 5K family fun run/walk begins at 9 a.m. and will be
followed by a pig roast, hole-in-one golf contest, music, silent
auction and raffles.
Mel's Run began in 1999 when
Blaine Bergmann lost his sister to cancer. The event decided to
raise money for Blaine's niece, a Special Olympian. Ozaukee County
Special Olympics was the recipient of $300 the first year and since
then Mel's Pig Roast, Inc. has donated $206,550 to local
charities.
Head coach Shawn Cassidy invites
everyone to join his program in supporting this great event. "Every
year we participate in a number of local community activities and
we are excited to contribute to Mel's Run because this event
supports so many local Ozaukee County charities."
