Women's Basketball blows by Rockford in dominating win

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin had six players in double-figures as it blew by Rockford University with a 95-71 victory inside the R. John Buuck Field House during Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.

The 95 points scored by the Falcons is the third highest output in the 10 years of head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones' tenure. The last time they reached at least 90 points was on Jan. 24, 2009 in a road win over Concordia University Chicago.

CUW had six players score in double-digits for the first time this season, as all 13 players that dressed saw action in the team effort. The Falcons dominated the paint with 50 points and outscored the Regents 28-3 on second chance opportunities, including a 20-0 difference in the first half.

The Falcons shot a season-high 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the field, to go along with a season-best 26-of-37 free throws. They also forced 21 turnovers and held a 45-25 advantage in rebounds.

Sophomore Megan Coenen (Green Bay, Wis.) led all scorers with 19 points, including a perfect 7-of-7 at the charity stripe. Senior Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) had 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while freshman Tori Riechers (Cedarburg, Wis.) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Senior Camille Parsons (Urbana, Ill.) finished with 14 points and freshman Jessica House (Oneida, Wis.) netted a career-high 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Sophomore Madelyn Landgraf (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) also had 10 points.

Erin Ryczek led the Regents (7-9, 4-7 NACC) with 14 points, while Katie Clark tallied 12 points off the bench. Arielle Nichols had nine points and Jessica Bjerning ended with seven points and six rebounds.

RU kept the game within single digits for the majority of the first half, until CUW used a 14-3 scoring run over a three minute and 39 second span to separate the two teams. The Falcons led 48-35 at the break behind Coenen and Parsons 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The lead quickly elevated for CUW to 20 points less than four minutes into the second period and reached 30 points with 8:49 to play in the game.

CUW returns to play on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. NACC road game against Edgewood College.
