Women's Basketball selected second in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin received six first-place votes and was selected to finish second in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, which is voted by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

The Falcons won the NACC North Division in 2012-13 with a 19-9 overall record and a 14-4 record in league play. They advanced to the NACC Tournament Championship game before falling at Wisconsin Lutheran College. CUW had 264 points in the poll.

WLC was voted to the win the league in 2013-14 after receiving 18 first-place votes and 281 points. The Warriors have won a division title the last five seasons – every season the league had divisional play – including a conference title the last three years.

This season the NACC has reverted to traditional non-divisional standings for both men's and women's basketball. The women's teams will play a 20-game modified double-round-robin schedule, playing nine of 11 conference opponents in a home-and-away series and a pair of opponents in a single game.

Benedictine University was tabbed third with 226 points. Lakeland College followed in fourth with 190 points, Alverno College fifth with 186 points and Edgewood College sixth with 174 points. Concordia University Chicago was five points behind in seventh place, Marian University eighth at 104 points and Rockford University ninth at 97 points. Aurora University (74), MSOE (62) and Dominican University (45) rounded out the final three spots in the poll.

The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the eight-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
