Softball Sweeps NACC Weekly Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its Student-Athletes of the Week for Softball on Tuesday morning. For the first time this season, the Falcons claimed both honors. Madi Wheat was voted as the NACC Position Player of the Week and Gina Followell was once again voted the NACC Pitcher of the Week by the athletic communication professionals within the league.

A junior outfielder from Coweta, Oklahoma, Madi Wheat is claiming the NACC Position Player of the Week title for the first time in her career. She is also the first Falcon to claim the title since Kelsey Bollon did in 2022.

Wheat finished the productive week at the plate with seven hits, including three multi-hit performances. She also scored six runs on the week and batted in five runs, including three in game two against Concordia Chicago. The Oklahoma native was a perfect three-for-three in stolen base attempts. Wheat was also once again perfect in the outfield with two putouts.

A senior from Romeoville, Illinois, Gina Followell is claiming the honor for the third-straight week, the third time this season and for the 15th time in her career.

Followell was dominant in the circle once again for the Falcons with a 2-0 week and another save. She pitched a pair of one-hit performances against St. Norbert and Concordia Chicago, where she had 11 strikeouts in each. She also had two strikeouts in an inning at St. Norbert where she earned her second save of the season.

The Falcons are scheduled to soar back into action on Wednesday at Marian.
