No. 20 Softball Made it Rain Runs

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Edgewood on Monday afternoon. The Falcons led 10-2 in game two before the game was suspended, a NACC rule newly enacted as of today may mark the game as a no-contest, but some clarity to the situation is needed.

The Falcons struck first in game one with a double for sophomore Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) to center field that scored senior Claudia Utz (Lockport, Ill.) and sophomore Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.)

The Blue and White struck again in the sixth inning when senior Sydney Erdmann (Geneva, Ill.) singled through the middle of the infield to send home senior Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.).

The Eagles broke up senior Gina Followell's (Romeoville, Ill.) no-hitter bid in their final out. Followell finished with 11 strikeouts.

Jess Pozezinski had three hits in the game one victory.

Sydney Erdmann and Claudia Utz both had a stolen base.

The Eagles struck first with a pair of runs on a pair of bunts in the first inning of game two.

Senior Gabbi Gaziano (Beloit, Wis.) doubled up the middle of the infield and then advanced to third on the throw to score Ashley Zappa.

The Falcons blew the game open in the third inning with nine runs.

Megan Bloyer started the spree with a single down the left-field line that plated Claudia Utz and Jess Pozezinski.

Sophomore Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) then doubled down the left-field line that scored freshman Julia Moker (Hubertus, Wis.).

A single for Ashley Zappa up the middle added Julia Moker to the scoreboard.

Gabbi Gaziano smashed a double into the gap in left-center field that scored Ashley Zappa and freshman Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.).

Ashley Zappa scored off the bat of Sydney Erdmann and a home run from Jess Pozezinski scored junior Madi Wheat (Coweta, Okla.) and Gabbi Gaziano.

Gabbi Gaziano and Jess Pozezinski lead the Falcons with two hits.

Senior Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.) has only allowed two hits and one earned run.

Madi Wheat and Julia Moker both have a stolen base.
