No. 14 Softball Downs Dominican in the NACC Tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The 14th-ranked Falcons took care of business on a rainy night in Illinois on Friday. The Falcons tied the school record with their 36th victory of the year with a 5-3 victory over Dominican.

The Falcons sprung onto the scoreboard in the second inning when freshman Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.) singled into the gap in left-center field to score junior Emily Walters (Waupun, Wis.) and senior Gabbi Gaziano (Beloit, Wis.).

The All-NACC selection, senior Sydney Erdmann (Geneva, Ill.) then singled to left field to bring home senior Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.).

In the third inning, Gabbi Gaziano singled to shortstop and sophomore Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) scurried home.

The rain delayed the game and the Stars cut the Concordia lead to 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Rylie DuVal struck again in the sixth with a double to right field to score freshman Julia Moker (Hubertus, Wis.).

Senior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) earned her 23rd victory of the year with seven strikeouts.

Senior Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.) shined brighter than the Stars in the seventh when she shut the door in her first save of the season and notched a strikeout to end the game.

Gabbi Gaziano and Rylie DuVal had two hits in the victory.

Madi Wheat, Gabbi Gaziano and Rylie DuVal all stole a base.

The Falcons will play the winner of Dominican and MSOE on Saturday afternoon for the NACC Tournament title.
