Softball Sweeps NACC Weekly Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its student-athletes of the week on Tuesday morning. The Falcons swept the NACC Softball Student-Athlete of the Week honors with Gina Followell earning the NACC Pitcher of the Week title and Jess Pozezinski claiming the NACC Position Player of the Week title for the week of April 11-18, 2022, as selected by the league's athletic communications professionals.

A senior from Romeoville, Illinois, Gina Followell is claiming the title for the third time this season and for the eighth time in her career.

She appeared in three games last week, posting a 3-0 record and a 0.70 earned-run average with 40 strikeouts over 20.0 innings. She opened the week by scattering four hits while striking out 17 over six innings in a 15-0 Falcons win at Alverno on April 11. In a 3-2 win over Aurora on April 15, Followell allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out 16 in the nine-inning victory. She capped the week by allowing just one hit while striking out seven in an 8-0, five-inning win over Dominican.

A freshman from Lake Villa, Illinois, Jess Pozezinski is claiming the honor for the first time in her career.

Pozezinski hit .450 (9-of-20) last week with a .522 on-base percentage and a 1.150 slugging percentage while leading Concordia Wisconsin to a 5-1 record. She recorded a hit in each game, finishing with two doubles, four home runs, and 11 RBIs. Pozezinski also drew three walks, stole two bases, and scored 11 runs. Defensively, she was errorless in 23 chances (21 putouts, two assists) at first base.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday at Wisconsin Lutheran.
