Followell Claims Third-Straight NACC Honor

MEQUON, Wis. – Gina Followell continues to be the top of the top pitchers in not only the conference but in the nation. The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its student-athletes of the week on Tuesday afternoon. Followell was given the Pitcher of the Week title for the week of April 25-May 1, 2022, as selected by the league's athletic communications professionals.

A senior from Romeoville, Illinois, Followell is claiming the honor for the third-straight week, the fifth time this season, and the 10th time in her career.

Followell recorded victories in each of her four starts of the week and finished with a record of 4-1 overall. She recorded 41 strikeouts in 26.0 innings. She began the week with 13 strikeouts in a six-inning victory at St. Norbert. Her next start was a complete game, victory that saw Followell retire seven batters by way of strikeout. She followed that performance with a 10-strikeout start in a five-inning victory at Lakeland. Her fourth start saw a nine-strikeout, seven-inning victory over Benedictine to help the Falcons claim the 2022 NACC Title.

The Falcons aim to finish a game that was started with Lakeland, but postponed due to weather then will compete in the NACC tournament next week.
