No. 17 Softball Reels in Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The 17th-ranked Falcons were able to get one victory in before the rain started to fall on Saturday. The Falcons took game one 30-4 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 30-4 on the year and 18-3 in the NACC.

The CUW offense exploded for five runs in the second inning.

The bat of junior Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.) scored senior Taylor Kuske (Kaukauna, Wis.).

A single down the left-field line from junior Gabbi Gaziano (Beloit, Wis.) then scored Ashley Zappa and freshman Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.).

Junior Sydney Erdmann doubled to center field to score Gaziano.

A single from senior Kelsey Bollon (Orangeville, Ill.) closed the second-inning scoring when Sidney Erdmann scored from second base.

The Falcons reeled in six more runs in the fifth inning.

Ashely Zappa blasted a double to centerfield to score Taylor Kuske.

Gabbi Gaziano then lifted a single to left field that added sophomore Emily Walters (Waupun, Wis.) to the scoreboard.

Freshman Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) popped the ball to left field to land freshman Amber Behr (Oak Creek, Wis.) and Ashley Zappa on home plate.

Sidney Erdmann closed the game-one scoring with a single up the middle of the infield to score Jess Pozezinski and sophomore Madison Wheat (Coweta, Okla.).

Senior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) shined in the circle once again on Saturday with 10 strikeouts and only three hits against.

Sidney Erdmann finished the game with a game-high four hits. Erdmann and Gaziano also both stole a base.

The victory sends CUW to the 30-win plateau for the fourth time in program history and for the second-straight year.

The Falcons lead game two 13-0 after two innings. The game is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday.

The Blue and White return to action on Sunday against Benedictine. The games will be played in Glendale, Wisconsin.
