Softball Opens NCAA Play in Ohio

MEQUON, Wis. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament bracket on Monday afternoon. CUW was selected to the 62-team 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Championship after claiming the automatic bid for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Sunday morning with the victory in the championship game over MSOE, 5-0.

The Falcons will be traveling to Cleveland, Ohio for the regional hosted by Case Western Reserve University.

CUW will open the regional tournament against Roanoke on Friday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 eastern first pitch.

The Maroons have a 30-12 record on the year and went 12-6 in the ODAC. Roanoke fell to Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Tournament. The Maroons are 1-0 against NACC schools with an 8-0 victory over Marian.

Case Western Reserve and the College of New Jersey are the other two teams in the regional.

The Spartans of Case Western Reserve are 26-9 on the season and went 16-3 against UAA schools. Case Western is currently tied for 25th place in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) rankings.

The Lions of TCNJ are 27-9 on the year and fell in the NJAC Conference Tournament championship game to No. 19 Rowan.

The Falcons are the top seed in the regional.

The games will be played at Mather Park at Case Western Reserve University.

This is the third trip for the Falcons to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue and White made appearances in the tournament in 2006 and 2009. CUW is 1-4 in the NCAA Tournament with a victory over St. Norbert in 2009.
