Falcons Finish WLC on Friday

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The CUW softball team finished the game that started on April 20 at Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday afternoon. The Falcons finished the resumed game with a 10-2 victory to 29-4 on the year and alone in first place in the NACC at 17-3.

Pozezinski started the Friday attack with a single to left field in the second inning that scored sophomore Emily Walters (Waupun, Wis.).

Junior Sidney Erdmann (Geneva, Ill.) then singled through the middle of the infield to score sophomore Madison Wheat (Coweta, Okla.).

The second-inning scoring closed when Sidney Erdmann stole second base and Jess Pozezinski stole home.

The Warrior found their way on the scoreboard in the third inning.

Jess Pozezinski popped the ball out of the park in the fourth inning.

The Falcons scored four more runs in the sixth inning.

Claudia Utz cracked a triple down the right-field line to score Sydney Erdmann and Jess Pozezinski.

A sacrifice fly from freshman Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) was able to get sophomore Nicole Grove (Sussex, Wis.) across home plate.

Senior Krystal Cortes (Aurora, Ill.) crushed a single to right field that scored freshman Amber Behr (Oak Creek, Wis.).

Senior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) only allowed one hit in five innings in the victory. She finished the contest with 10 strikeouts.

Claudia Utz closed the scoring with a shot to shortstop in the seventh inning to score junior Ashley Zappa (Zion, Ill.).

Freshman Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) finished with three strikeouts.  

Sydney Erdmann finished with a game-high three hits in the victory.

The Falcons stole eight bases in the victory. Jess Pozezinski and Sydney Erdmann both stole two bases.

The Blue and White clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament with the victory.

The Falcons can clinch a share of their third-straight NACC title with a pair of victories on Saturday at Lakeland.
