Women’s Soccer sweeps NACC weekly accolades

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced its players of the week in women's soccer on Tuesday morning. The CUW women's soccer team walked away with both honors with Kaeley Sterkel and Karoline Haugland earning the titles. Last week, the Falcons defeated MSOE, 4-2 and Dominican, 5-0, to clinch a first-round bye in the NACC Tournament.

"This is great recognition for both of their performances this week," said head coach Ryan Middendorf. "Our wins this week were because of the tremendous efforts from the entire team, both in preparation and performance during the matches. Kaeley had several game-saving saves in both matches and Karoline contributed in so many ways in her work rate and of course the game-changing goals.  The coaching staff could not be more proud of this team."

A junior from Dana Point, California, Kaeley Sterkel is claiming the honor for the second time this season. Last week, she posted six saves against MSOE and a shutout with eight saves against Dominican.

A freshman from Bergen, Norway, Karoline Haugland is also claiming the title for the second time this season. Against MSOE, she scored a goal and an assist. On Saturday against first-place Dominican, she scored two goals.

The Falcons close the regular season on Tuesday against Elmhurst.
