Women’s Soccer sinks MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a 4-2 victory over MSOE. The victory propels CUW to 13-4 and to 9-2 in the NACC. The victory also gives CUW three crucial points in the tight-NACC standings.

The Raiders tested the Falcons for the full 90 minutes, beginning with three shots in the first minute.

The Falcons responded with a goal in the fourth minute on a floating shot from freshman Katelyn Ries (Upland, Calif.) off a rebound from freshman Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.).

The Blue and White struck again when sophomore Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) snuck the ball past the keeper off a pass from freshman Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway).

CUW went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The Raiders struck twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to tie the game with two short-angle shots.

The tie game only lasted 17 seconds, as Selena Esten threw the ball into the net off a cross from Selena Esten.

In the 77th minute, Karoline Haugland tipped in the fourth goal off a pass from Selena Esten.

Junior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) snagged six saves in the victory.

The Falcons outshot the Raiders on Wednesday, 26-17. Selena Esten led CUW with nine shots.

Concordia Wisconsin will celebrate senior day on Saturday in a battle of the two-top teams in the NACC, against Dominican.
