Women’s Soccer Ties St. Norbert in NACC Quarterfinals

MEQUON, Wis. - In the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Quarterfinals, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against the Green Knights of St. Norbert College after regulation and two overtimes, forcing a penalty shootout.

The Falcons quickly made their presence felt, with junior Brei Rozmiarek (West De Pere, Wis.) taking a shot just 65 seconds into the match. Senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) put Concordia on the scoreboard, finishing a well-placed pass from freshman Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

However, the Green Knights equalized in the 43rd minute when they were awarded a penalty kick, sending the teams into halftime locked at 1-1.

The second half saw both defenses hold firm, with neither team managing to find the net. The Falcons generated several chances, including shots in the 52nd, 63rd, and 80th minutes, while senior goalkeeper Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) recorded eight saves to keep the game tied.

Overtime proved equally tense, as both teams failed to score despite opportunities. Senior Sheridan Dorge (Winnipeg, Man.) had two close attempts in the 97th and 99th minutes, but the score remained 1-1. In the second overtime, the Green Knights were kept at bay with zero shots on goal while the Falcons fired off three shots from Jacey Read, Sheridan Dorge, and freshman Isabell Wentorf (Racine, Wis.).

With the match still tied, the game proceeded to a penalty shootout. Senior Carmen Rowe (Copley, Ohio), Sheridan Dorge, Maddy Pertle (Orland Park, Ill.), and Anna Gong all converted their attempts for the Falcons. However, the Green Knights edged out Concordia, winning the shootout 5-4 and advancing to the NACC Semifinals.

The Falcons conclude their season with an overall record of 11-5-3 and a conference mark of 8-1-2.
