Scarlet Hawks shrink NACC title hopes

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons dropped a key NACC match on Saturday at home to Illinois Tech. The Scarlet Hawks flew away with the 3-2 victory to sink the Blue and White to 12-4 and 8-2 in the NACC. The Falcons now fall further behind Dominican, with only two matches remaining.

Freshman Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) moved past the IIT keeper who bit too early off a pass from Kailey Lewis.

The Scarlet Hawks scored the next two goals to take the lead.

Freshman Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at two heading into the half.

Illinois Tech landed the winning punch three minutes into the second half.

Junior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) secured seven saves in the loss.

The Falcons held a 17-12 shots advantage on Saturday.

CUW looks to rebound on Wednesday against MSOE.
