MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team competed in their first conference matchup of the season inside the Ozaukee Ice Center on Friday evening.
Freshman Nathan Gilleshammer (Crystal, N.D.) netted the first goal of the matchup in the third minute of the first period.
Trine opened the second period with two goals of their own to take the 2-1 lead.
Junior Joey Petronack (White Bear Lake, Minn.) netted the powerplay goal to tie the matchup at two. He was assisted by junior Nick Bowlin (Maplewood, Minn.) and freshman Colin Kerchoff (White Lake, Mich.).
The Thunder netted the game-winning goal in the third period, which was the lone goal, to claim the victory.
The Falcons fell to 0-5 on the year.
The Blue and White are back in action and look to get revenge on Saturday afternoon.
