Golden Gusties Blow Over Men's Hockey

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The CUW concluded the 2022 calendar year on Saturday night at Gustavus Adolphus. The Falcons fell short by an 8-2 margin to conclude 2022 at 2-11-0.

The Gusties struck first on Saturday with a goal halfway through the first period.

Freshman Jaron Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) leveled the game five minutes later with freshman Collin Kerchoff (White Lake, Mich.) and junior Joey Petronack (White Bear Lake, Minn.) credited with the assist.

The Golden Gusties broke the tie with three second-period goals.

Gustavus added another goal to start off the scoring in the third period.

The Falcons responded with a goal from junior Nick Bowlin (Maplewood, Minn.) and an assist from Collin Kerchoff.

The Black and Gold responded with three goals of their own to close the scoring.

GAC held a 51-20 advantage in shots on Saturday.

The Falcons killed off all three penalties.

Faceoffs were relatively even, with a slight 34-33 advantage to Gustavus. Sophomore Nick Wieben (Mankato, Minn.) won 15 faceoffs on Saturday night.

In the net, freshman Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) had 32 saves in the start. Freshman Dolan Gilbert (South Bend, Ind.) added 11 additional saves.

CUW returns to action on Jan. 6 at home against Lake Forest for the Border Battle Cup.
