Falcons Shutout Sabres

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team recorded their second conference victory on Saturday evening inside the Ozaukee Ice Center.

The Blue and White claimed the victory to split the weekend series with Marian.

The first period came and went without either team recording a goal.

The Falcons struck first in the second minute of the second period off the stick of freshman Nick Maksymiu (Chicago, Ill.). He was assisted by fellow freshman Collin Kerchoff (White Lake, Mich.).

Kerchoff recorded another assist on the second goal just seven minutes later from junior Nick Bowlin (Maplewood, Minn.).

The third Falcon goal came in the early stages of the third period on a breakaway that saw Junior Joey Petronack (White Bear Lake, Minn.) hit freshman Jason Tenezaca (Niles, Ill.) across the crease to slide one past the netminder.

The Falcons netted the fourth goal in the third period on an empty net for the Sabres. Freshman Parker Williams (West Bloomfield, Mich.) slotted one in the net off assists from freshmen Ben Pizzimenti (Iowa City, Iowa) and Nathan Gilleshammer (Crystal, N.D.).

The Falcons finished with four goals on 39 total shots.

Freshman Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) recorded 52 saves in his shutout performance.

The Falcons head to MSOE on Tuesday for some pre-Thanksgiving action.
