Men’s Hockey loses to No. 7/8 Adrian

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin was able to strike first in their Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association matchup against No. 7/8 Adrian College, but could not sustain their lead and eventually lost 6-1 Friday evening at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

CUW (6-13-2, 6-10-0 MCHA) freshman forward Chris Hughes (Dundee, Mich.) blasted a goal in to the back of the net less than four minutes into the game on a beautiful assist by junior defenseman Brandon Bayer (Milwaukee, Wis.). With momentum shifting in the Falcons favor, the Bulldogs were able to seize control of the game by shutting out CUW for the remainder of contest.

Leading the way for AC (18-1-3, 14-0-3 MCHA) were stars Zach Graham, who secured a hat trick for the Bulldogs and Shaquille Merasty who had two points (one goal, one assist) this evening. Graham and Merasty are having a very impressive season for the Bulldogs, as they are tied a top the conference in total points standing at 26, respectively. 

Scott Shackell continues his astounding play for AC as he saved 33-of-34 shots, while Falcon freshman goalkeeper Jake Hebda (Firestone, Colo.) had a rough outing this evening managing to save 33-of-39 shots. Hebda fell to 6-13-0 on the season while Shackell improved to 8-1-2.

The Falcons return to the ice Saturday afternoon to face the Bulldogs once again. The puck is set to drop at 4:00 p.m.
