Lake Forest completes series sweep of Men's Hockey

MEQUON, Wis. -- For the second straight game, Concordia University Wisconsin managed to take the early lead against Lake Forest College, but five unanswered goals by the Foresters silenced the Falcons, resulting in a 5-1 loss at the Ozaukee Ice Center on a chilly Saturday evening.

The two clubs skated at a frantic pace, exchanging blow-after-blow against the boards for the majority of the game. The aggressive style of play was showcased once again between the Falcons and the Foresters, which has been the theme thus far this season.  A combined 33 penalties were called between the two clubs during this series.

CUW (6-13-0, 6-8-0 MCHA) notched their first and only goal on a power-play opportunity fired by freshman forward Devin Stuermer (Milwaukee, Wisc.), which was assisted by freshman defenseman Cody Kostecki (Thunder Bay, Ontario). Stuermer was the lone bright spot for the Falcons this series as he amassed two goals against the Foresters.

LFC (9-8-2, 6-7-1 MCHA) broke the Falcons lead on a power-play goal by Ben Certo a little over three minutes after Concordia's initial goal. The Foresters managed to score the next four goals of the contest while the Falcons had no answer.

For the series this weekend, LFC converted on 7-of-16 power-play opportunities compared to 1-for-11 by CUW, which continues to be their "Achilles heel" this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Domingo Torrenueva (Oshawa, Ontario) started in his first game this season for the Falcons, saving 24-of-29 shots while LFC goalkeeper Brendan Sullivan continued his strong play this season saving 15-of-16 shots.

The Falcons will next take the ice in a home-and-home series against MSEO this Friday at the Kern Center in downtown Milwaukee. The puck is set to drop at 7:05 p.m.
