No. 15 MSOE pulls away from Men's Hockey in third period

MILWAUKEE – No. 15-ranked MSOE fired from every angle on Friday night and defeated Concordia University Wisconsin, 6-1, in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both schools at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (1-0, 1-0 MCHA) ended the victory with a decisive 47-27 shot advantage over the Falcons (0-2, 0-1 MCHA) which led to many more opportunities. MSOE tallied two of their six goals on power-play opportunities and scored three of their goals less than four minutes apart in the third period.

CUW's Jake Hebda (freshman, Firestone, Colo.) recorded 41 saves on the night, but double-digit shots against him in each period was too much to handle.

Kevin LoGiudice tallied a pair of scores for the Raiders, while Jordan Keizer and Bradley Tierney each assisted on two goals.

Freshman Franco Loparco (Toronto, Ontario) scored his first career goal in the second period to cut the Falcons deficit to 2-1. Freshman Kyle Gaskin (Kingston, Ontario) assisted on the tally.

CUW returns to action against No. 15 MSOE in the home-and-home series at 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
