Hebda named MCHA Defensive Player of the Week

MILWAUKEE – Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Jake Hebda was named Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The freshman standout helped CUW (2-3-0, 2-2-0 MCHA) to a two-game series sweep over Lawrence University this past weekend. The Firestone, Colo., native stopped 31 shots during Friday's 3-2 home victory before recording 29 saves in Saturday's 3-2 road victory.

Hebda had a .937 save percentage and 60 total saves to complete his impressive weekend. The series sweep was the second in program history. The league honor is the first of the season for the Falcons.

CUW returns to the ice on Friday with the first game of a home-and-home series against Lake Forest College. The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
