MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA hockey team battled until the very end against the top-ranked Lions of Lindenwood on Friday afternoon. The Lions defended home ice with a 2-1 victory.
The two teams found themselves in a defensive battle with neither team finding the back of the net for the first half of the game.
The Lions scored twice in the final five minutes of the second period.
The Falcons lit the lamp in the third period with a shorthanded goal from sophomore Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) after sophomore Jaxon Hill (Bismarck, N.D.) fed him a breakaway pass.
The Falcons had some looks at the Lindenwood net late but could not capitalize.
Junior Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) had another outstanding performance in the net and finished with 32 saves.
The Lions held a 34-25 advantage in shots on Friday.
The Falcons look to bounce on Saturday at Maryville.
