ACHA Hockey Sweeps Away Trine

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA hockey program once again brought out the brooms on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons completed the weekend sweep with a 5-4 victory to improve to 15-5 on the year.
 
Senior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) torched the top of the net with a power-play goal to start the scoring in the first period off assists from senior Tommy Cassell (Grafton, Wis.) and senior Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.).
 
Trine tied the game six minutes later on the power play.
 
The Thunder rumbled to a 2-1 lead late in the second period.
 
Sophomore Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) tied the game 33 seconds later with senior Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.) and Garrett Wilderman taping in the assists.
 
Garrett Wilderman struck again to start the third period scoring off assists from senior Andrew Malek and sophomore Owen Almburg (Glenview, Ill.).
 
Freshman Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.) lit the lamp off a rebound from sophomore Jaxon Hill (Bismarck, N.D.) with a shot off the post.
 
Trine cut into the lead with a shorthanded goal off an unfortunate turnover.
 
Chuck Emme scored the game-winning goal on the power play after he cut through the Trine defense.
 
Junior Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) brought in 35 saves on the evening.
 
Trine outshot Concordia on Saturday, 39-29.
 
CUW was 3-5 on the power play.
 
Chuck Emme led the contest with nine shots.
 
CUW will take a break and return to action in December in Missouri.
