MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin ACHA hockey team kicked off the season with a commanding 4-0 victory over conference opponent MSOE on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first period, the Falcons came alive in the second, scoring three goals. The first came on a power play at 13:08 when senior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) capitalized on precise passes from fellow senior captain Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) and sophomore Jaxon Hill (Bismarck, N.D.).
Less than four minutes later, Wilderman struck again on another power play, with Staudacher and senior Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.) providing the assists.
Freshman Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.) added the third goal of the period at 7:34, receiving assists from senior Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.) and freshman Tyler Reinke (Franklin, Wis.).
In the third period, the Falcons extended their lead when Jaxon Hill scored on a play set up by Andrew Malek and Garrett Wilderman.
In the contest, Wilderman led the charge with two goals and one assist, while junior Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) made 27 saves in goal for his first career win as a Falcon.
The Falcons will look to build on their strong performance when they host the Wisconsin Badgers on September 20th.
