Falcons Eliminate Edgewood in NACC Quarterfinals

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons made the Eagles into some angry birds on Saturday with a 6-0 victory in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament Quarterfinals. The Falcons ended the Eagles' run at 11-5-2 on the year and soar to 15-3-2.

Senior Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) snuck past the defense and scored the first goal of the match in the 31st minute off a pass from sophomore Carmen Rowe (Copley, Ohio).

Senior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) added to the lead with a penalty kick before halftime to extend her scoring streak to six matches.

The Falcons struck again in the 52nd minute on a corner from senior Jordan Lafferty (Surprise, Ariz.) that found senior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) in the box and Downs put the ball away.

CUW struck again 10 minutes later when Karoline Haugland ran past the Edgewood defense and scored her second goal of the match after Isabel Downs added the assist.

In the 72nd minute, Karoline Haugland danced around the Eagles and found an open sophomore Maya Bell (West Bend, Wis.) and Bell bounced the ball off the crossbar into the back of the net.

Haugland earned the hat trick as she ran past the defenders and the goalie and tapped the ball in the 81st minute.

Sophomore Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) posted another clean sheet with six saves in the shutout.

CUW outshot Edgewood on Saturday, 15-8. Karoline Haugland led the match with four shots.

This is the eighth time in the career of Karoline Haugland that she has scored three or more goals. Haugland was an eagle killer in her career, with this being her second hat trick against Edgewood, after her four-goal, one-assist performance in 2019.

Saturday was the 13th shutout of the season for Concordia.

CUW will play again on Tuesday afternoon at Dominican in the NACC Tournament Semifinals.
